Tigard Lacrosse Club Members,

I am writing to you this evening to make you aware of Tigard Lacrosse Clubs response to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.  Tigard Lacrosse Club will always put the safety of its members first.  As you no doubt know this situation is changing seemingly by the hour.  We have been closely following all news and guidance as it has become available.

TLC is somewhat unique in that we facilitate programming for both Youth and high school teams.  It is because of this that we will have some variation in our response depending on where your son or daughter plays.

We are communicating regularly with the Tigard-Tualatin School District (TTSD), the three governing bodies of our teams (OHSLA, OGLA & OYL) and the Oregon State Activities Association (OSAA).  We will do our best to keep you informed as timely as we can given the fluidity of the situation.  The school district has just concluded an emergency board meeting and here is where we stand at this point.

  • Youth Boys:  We were informed that in addition to school closure and suspension of lacrosse activity through the 31st we are not able to use TTSD fields, gymnasiums, facilities through April 8th.  As such the season will be suspended until that time.  We will make every effort to re-schedule as much programming as possible.   Oregon Youth Lacrosse, the governing body for boy’s youth lacrosse has informed us they are postponing their scheduling meeting and scheduling announcement until after spring break.  We will keep everyone informed if anything changes but at this point, we expect to be back at your practice field on April 9th at 5:30pm.

  • Youth Girls:  Being that our youth girls a combined team under the TV Titans umbrella we are deferring to them for their response and any programming changes that have been or may be made.  Refer to your teams Team Snap page for additional details.  As of now the season is continuing as planned with the modifications already communicated regarding fan/parent attendance and physical contact.  The School districts that maintain the fields these teams use have not elected to suspend use or school at this time.  I would anticipate that changing in the next 24 hours and advise you to do what you think is best with regard to participation.

  • Girls High School:  The Oregon Girls Lacrosse Association is the governing body for High School Girls Lacrosse and they are electing to follow OSAA guidelines.  The TTSD just announced that school will be open in the morning so students can get their belongings and then it will not re-open until the 31st.  As such all lacrosse activity will be suspended beginning tomorrow and carrying through the 31st.

  • Boys High School:  The Oregon High School Lacrosse Association is the governing body for boy’s high school lacrosse and have also elected to follow OSAA guidlines.  The TTSD just announced that school will be open in the morning so students can get their belongings and then it will not re-open until the 31st.  As such all lacrosse activity will be suspended beginning tomorrow and carrying through the 31st.

This is an unprecedented time and there will no doubt be more questions than answers at times.  Please know that the Tigard Lacrosse Club Board is working and communicating constantly throughout the days and weeks as this situation develops.

For those teams that are still able to play please follow any and all CDC guidelines to mitigate risk of contracting and/or spreading COVID-19.  If anyone in your family is exhibiting any symptoms of the virus, please do not attend any TLC activity.  We must work together to ensure the safety of our members.  More information surrounding best practices during the pandemic can be found at The CDC's Website and at The World Heath Organizations Website.

Thank You,

John Robinson

President
